The SG4 gravel grid, also known as the paddock grid, is designed for the most demanding conditions. The main applications of the SG4 gravel grid include parking lots, heavy traffic roads and horse paddocks, where the pressure is distributed more point-wise. Behind the above-average strength of the SG4 gravel grid is a slightly more closed structure and thick walls , which prevents the movement of gravel (in the case of parking lots and heavy transport roads) and sand in the case of horse paddocks. In addition, the SG4 model allows natural drainage of rainwater, creating a SUDS compliant surface.
The SG4 model, thanks to its exceptional durability, exceeding standard gravel grids, makes it an excellent replacement for paving stones, for example. SG4 gravel grids in accordance with DIN EN 1072:1985 can withstand a permissible pressure of up to 500 t/m², which makes them extremely durable and reliable even under the harshest conditions. Installation of these gravel grids is simple thanks to intuitive “click” connections.
The gravel grids are available in the following dimensions: 50×50×4 cm, 50×50×5 cm, 60×40×4 cm.
The most important advantages of Stella Green gravel grids
Any filling
The gravel grids can be filled with soil with sown grass or all kinds of gravel up to 20 mm in size. The design of the gravel grid prevents the migration of aggregate and the formation of ruts or puddles. The gravel grid layer filled with gravel creates an even and comfortable surface for car and pedestrian traffic.
Durable material
The material for the production of the gravel grid is regranulate (polyethylene), which was obtained in the process of recycling selected post-industrial waste. This makes the material not only durable, but clean and free of heavy metals. Durable and safe for the environment.
Unique design
Installation is quick and easy. The individual panels are connected by integrated hooks at the edges of the individual gravel grids, leaving an expansion joint. The structure is strong and at the same time fully openwork. The roots of the grass can grow perfectly in the grid, creating a stable
SUDS compliant surface in every direction.
Application of Stella Green gravel grids
The SG4 gravel grid is a great substitute for paving stones, asphalt or openwork concrete slabs, especially where it is important to maintain a biologically active surface. The SG4 gravel grid, due to its reinforced structure, is perfect for use in parking lots, paddocks and heavy transport roads. This model has been designed for the toughest conditions on demanding terrains. It is ideal both as a product for public investments, parking areas, and as a durable alternative to stabilize horse paddocks.
Stella Green gravel grids, including the SG4 model, have passed tests carried out by the German organization TÜV SÜD, confirming compliance with the DIN EN 1072:1985 standard, which is crucial in the design and construction of fire roads. SUDS compliant.

The installation of the gravel grid should not take place at a temperature below 5 degrees Celsius.
The installation of the gravel grid itself is quick and uncomplicated. Thanks to the integrated hooks on the edges of the gravel grids, the individual elements are very easy to connect to each other.
The most important factor influencing the longevity of a gravel grid structure is a properly made substructure. We have also prepared special instructions on how to make one to enjoy a properly laid grate for many years. Gravel grid installation step by step
In order to properly prepare the substructure for the laying of gravel grids, it is necessary:
coring the entire area
level the ground and compact mechanically
lining the area with geotextile
fill with a base layer, then level and compact again with a compactor
re-lining the area with geotextile fabric
pour out the loose material (sand), i.e. the levelling layer and spread it evenly
arrange the gravel grids by connecting it to each other with hooks (in the case of SG1 and SG3 models) or with “click” catches (in the case of SG4 and SG6 models)

* Important: the shade of green and black color may vary in products delivered in successive deliveries. This is a typical feature of recycled production, which does not affect the quality and performance of the products in any way.
* Important: Grid walls must be completely filled with stone or overgrown with grass. If there is a loss of fill, it must be replenished – protruding hollow walls can be damaged.
** Additional protection of the soil stabilization system against the phenomenon of keyboarding are 245 mm long anchors with a clearly marked screw line, for which guide stacks are provided in the grid structure. In addition, the anchor is intended to protect the system from landslides, in case it is laid on a slope.

Frequently asked questions
What are gravel grids and how do they work?
Gravel grids are special openwork panels made of durable materials such as polyethylene. They are used to stabilize the soil, allowing the load to be evenly distributed on the surface, which prevents rutting and damage. Thanks to the grid structure, rainwater can seep freely, which contributes to maintaining the biologically active surface. This product is available in brown, thanks to which it looks very natural and fits into any surface. If you are interested in the green or black color of a rectangular geogrid, read about the SG6 Geogrid.

How to install a gravel grid step by step?
Installation of Stella Green gravel grids is simple and quick. The substrate should be prepared, i.e. remove the soil layer, to a level that will allow all layers of the substructure to fit (it is worth keeping a 1-2% slope in the best direction for water runoff). Then the area should be covered with geotextile (100-300 g/m2). The next step is to cover the area with the load-bearing layer (details on the composition of the load-bearing layer can be found in the link below). Then, the geotextile should be laid again, and the levelling layer should be poured on it and the mixture should be compacted with a compactor. In the final step, the gravel grids are laid on a prepared surface and filled with material such as aggregate, gravel or sown with grass (see link below for details). The gravel grids can be easily cut to fit any shape and size of surface. Click on the link, select the language and learn how to install the gravel grid step by step: https://installation.info.pl/.
